BENEFITS

Why Does My Dog Need Walking?

Dogs navigate the world through scent, with research suggesting that dogs may have scent-navigated dreams instead of visual like us! Exploring the outside world is one of the simplest ways to keep a dog happy and healthy - it activates their senses, helps them learn and form new experiences, providing them with mental stimulation to satisfy their need for adventure.

A HAPPY DOG IS A HEALTHY DOG

Enhance Social Confidence and Reduce Separation Anxiety

Dog walkers can enhance your dog’s social confidence and reduce separation anxiety as your dog gains enjoyment and experiences in your absence - helping them learn to be comfortable and independent whilst you’re at work or running errands.

This is a major obstacle following the pandemic as newly adopted pets became accustomed to their family being home all day, and may have struggled to adapt to the working family life. This is especially true for intelligent and active working breeds as they have high mental stimulation needs. Wolfsounds K9 Services can tailor an engaging and active experience for your dog using enrichment games, which will stimulate your dog and satisfy their drive for work.

Enhance Brain Function and Reduce Stress

Even familiar walking routes are made more exciting when accompanied by a new walker as new experiences form new neural pathways in the brain - learning keeps you young as they say!

A busy day learning also uses more energy, so your dog will likely tire more following new walks with new people, and they will be more peaceful at home with you.

About the Owner

My name is Shannen and dogs have always been a passion of mine. I shared my childhood with two huskies – greatly developing my experience training intelligent, independent, and high energy working breeds. I love the active dog-owner lifestyle and I currently care for a small companion dog, Lucy the Chi-poo, who is adored by everyone who meets her, as well as two rabbits.

My canine experience includes four years’ employment as a seasonal boarding kennels worker and I have also provided dog walking and sitting services for family, friends, and neighbours for the last 10 years – caring for a variety of sizes, ages and temperaments.

I graduated in 2022 with a Bsc (Hons) in Animal & Conservation Biology, achieving a Level 9 qualification in Animal Behaviour and pet care at Level 7, and I previously achieved a Level 6 qualification in Psychology from Fife College.

It was during my intense final year at university that I realised I need an outdoorsy job which is challenging, exciting, and relaxing at the same time – and canine work is just that for me. I offer my services to any and all dog breeds to gain a wider range of experience.

I am currently studying with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT), to progress the business into training and behaviour, and aiming to offer these services in the future.

I left my 2 Maltese with Shannen for a week, and I was very nervous about leaving Petal as she is a rescue with many health problems. Whilst I was away I got many updates and pictures, my dogs looked relaxed, happy and part of the family. Shannen has walked my dogs on many occasions and I’m always happy, as are the dogs! Excellent service, she really treats them like her own and puts so much care into everything. I highly recommend her.

- Linda, Petal & Bowie

I started using Wolfsounds’ walking services about 2 months ago after I heard rave reviews from my brother who books with Shannen too. My little Jack Russell, Alfie, gets so excited every time he hears Shannen coming! She takes Alfie for walks, interacts with him and gives him so much fun, and he always has a good sleep afterwards. I would highly recommend Shannen at Wolfsounds!

- Beverley & Alfie

Shannen is always reliable and punctual. She has a great bond with our Short-haired German Pointer, Bruce. He pulls a lot of the lead and has a high prey drive but she has managed him fantastically. We always get a little summary of how he gets on which is lovely to hear. Would definitely recommend.
